2010 National ATV Show: A myriad of new models

11-12-2010

by Pascal Bastien , moto123.com

Honda

Big Red, the lone side-by-side vehicle in the Honda family, is new and improved for 2011. Larger and more efficient, it can now haul 454 kilos and tow up to 680 kilos, both significant increases over the previous model. The new edition also receives more comfortable seats, grippier Maxxis Bighorn tires as well as firmer shocks and springs for optimum work performance.

Kymco
The Taiwanese company introduces its biggest and most powerful ATV ever, the all-new Maxxer 450i, a race-style machine that makes no compromises in terms of long-distance comfort and ergonomics. Motivated by a liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, 442-cc, 4-stroke, single-cylinder engine, the 450i uses a continuously-variable transmission (CVT), shift-on-the-fly all-wheel drive (AWD), a fully-independent suspension, aluminum wheels with low-profile tires and a 2-inch hitch.

Polaris

The Sportsman 400 H.O., 500 H.O., 800 EFI, Big Boss 6x6 and Touring 500 H.O. get a more aggressive-looking grille that improves radiator protection as well as a quieter and more effective CVT. Meanwhile, the Sporstman XP Touring features the company's Lock & Ride system, which allows you to replace the passenger seat with a cargo case without using any tools.

Suzuki
The newest member of Suzuki's utility lineup, the KingQuad 400ASi, receives an electronic fuel injection system, digital instruments (with a fuel gauge) and new colors and graphics similar to those of the larger 500AXi and 750AXi.

Yamaha
For 2011, the Kodiak 450 benefits from a number of features that have made the big Grizzly models famous, such as a speed-sensitive, electronically-assisted steering, the Ultramatic CVT (designed to maintain constant belt tension) and a fully-sealed, oil-bath rear braking system.

Let's not forget the new Raptor 125, a lightweight and agile ATV styled like the brand's thoroughbreds. Powered by a 4-stroke, single-cylinder engine and a 5-speed manual transmission, this friendly rig seems to be a wise choice for beginners and extreme sports enthusiasts who want to compete on four wheels. Disc brakes at all corners and electric start show just how serious this terrific little dirt machine is.

Don't miss your chance to see, touch and test-ride all these models and get information from the multiple exhibitors on hand!
