No. 1 - BMW R1200RT
Despite the previous R1200RT already serving as a benchmark in terms of riding dynamics, BMW went back to the drawing board and made a few tweaks in order to remain ahead of the pack. The new R1200RT is configured more like the R1200GS and boasts a new twin-cylinder boxer engine that's air/liquid-cooled through a pair of small, concealed radiators.

Goodies include a TFT colour display, BMW Motorrad Pro trip computer, fairing-integrated compartments, heated grips and seats, full electronic aids, electronically controlled suspension, navigation, premium audio, LED lighting, and the famous Shifter Pro system that allows you to shift gears without touching the clutch lever. Some of those are pricey options, however, so be careful.

BMW's GT motorcycles are known for their great agility, and the new R1200RT is the best in the segment thanks to a reasonable weight, low-mounted engine, and compact chassis (wheelbase, rake, trail). Advanced technology and ultra-sharp operation elevate it to the top of our GT rankings for 2014.
