WPSA News: Dustin Nelson Sustains Leg Injury

6-17-2007

by Flagworld

The SuperQuad Pro 450 race was stopped on the fifth lap due a crash involving Dustin Nelson and Jason Dunkelberger. Nelson was transported to a Lexington, Kentucky-area hospital for treatment of a leg injury, while Dunkelberger was treated on site and released. The race, under WPSA rules, was restarted from the beginning.

Keith Little (No. 12 Lonestar/Honda) won the 1,000 QUAD Magazine Holeshot award.

Kilby (No. 207 Warnert Racing/Can-Am) took the lead early in the QuadTerrain Pro Stock final, after teammate Chris Borich (No. 2 Warnert Racing/Can-Am) suffered mechanical problems. Privateer rider Jesse West (No. 888 West Racing/Arctic Cat) was second, ahead of London, Kentucky resident Adam Vaughn (No. 83 Warnert Racing/Can-Am).

"This was great after the last race," said Kilby. "I had mechanical trouble, and wrecked the bike in Oklahoma, so it's nice to win one."

Borich won the Holeshot Technologies Rock'n'Roll Award, worth $1,000, for exiting the QuadTerrain course's rock section first.

The winners of the $500 ATVSource.com Fastest Mover Awards, given in both Pro classes to the riders who move up the most positions from qualifying, went to Wimmer and Vaughn.

This morning's finals will be telecast on ESPN2 on Saturday, July 15 at 1 p.m. EDT.

The Blue Ridge Open Championship will continue this afternoon with the second set of SuperQuad Pro 450 and QuadTerrain Challenge finals, as well as the SuperSport side-by-side race.
