Top 5 supersport bikes of 2014

7-14-2014

by Pascal Bastien , moto123.com

1st place -- Kawasaki ZX-6R
The latest evolution of the smaller ZX is lighter and more powerful, and benefits from a more effective suspension system, optimized mass centralization, and a successfully revised design. More recently, Kawasaki increased the displacement to 636cc, made the rake steeper, fitted a new Separate Function Big Piston Fork (with dedicated preload adjustability in the left tube and dedicated damping pistons and adjustability in the right tube), increased rear suspension travel by 25 mm, and incorporated Nissin monoblock callipers that are 90g lighter than the old ones.

The new, track-oriented ergonomics are surprisingly well suited for the road. The frame is sharp and agile through S-turns, and remains stable when you pick up speed. The Ninja ZX-6R also boasts a comprehensive, state-of-the-art electronic aid package derived from the ZX-10R superbike. In particular, Sport-Kawasaki Traction Control (S-KTRC) offers three selectable modes to go along with the two different power delivery modes, wheelie control, and race ABS.

Overall, the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R looks like one of the best and smartest picks in the supersport segment by far.
