BRP's newly unveiled 2014 utility side-by-side vehicle lineup includes no fewer than seven trim levels in the standard-wheelbase, 2-seat configuration, led by the top-of-the-line Can-Am Commander Limited 1000 at $22,649.

2014 Can-Am Commander Limited 1000 technologies
The premium side-by-side off-road riding experience of the 2014 Can-Am Commander Limited 1000 combines the best of both worlds: capability and luxury. It all starts with an air suspension featuring FOX performance shocks at all four corners.

Then you have a 976-cc Rotax V-twin with electronic fuel injection and Intelligent Throttle Control (iTC). Producing a class-leading 85 hp, the 2014 Can-Am Commander Limited 1000 is more than capable of giving you a good scare if you get too carried away. This 8-valve SHOC engine is mated to a CVT, and offers selectable 2WD/4WD operation with a Visco-Lok auto-locking front differential.

2014 Can-Am Commander Limited 1000 specs
Standing 3,004 mm long (on a 1,924-mm wheelbase), 1,489 mm wide, and 1,829 mm tall, the 2014 Can-Am Commander Limited 1000 boasts a dry weight of 585 kg (1,295 lb). It also provides 279 mm (11”) of ground clearance for easier riding on obstacle-laden trails, as well as 680 kg (1,500 lb) of towing capacity.

Expect to cover a lot of ground between fill-ups, too: The 2014 Can-Am Commander Limited 1000 has a 37.8-litre fuel tank. As for the brakes, they consist of 214-mm ventilated front and rear discs with dual-piston callipers.

Elsewhere, the multifunction gauge cluster includes a speedometer, tachometer, odometer, trip and hour metres, sport mode, ECO mode, gear position, seat belt, and 4WD indicators, diagnostics, and auto shut off.

2014 Can-Am Commander Limited 1000 distinctive features
What separates the 2014 Can-Am Commander Limited 1000 from other trim levels are advanced and premium amenities such as the aforementioned air suspension, new Tri-Mode Dynamic Power Steering, Garmin navigation, and a four-speaker audio system.

Let's not forget key features that make a real difference out on the trail: exclusive 14” aluminium wheels, 27” Maxxis Bighorn 2.0 tires, and a 4,000-lb (1,814 kg) WARN winch that will get you out of trouble if you ever get stuck.

The 2014 Can-Am Commander Limited 1000 further stands out with a two-piece full hard roof, half-windshield, heavy-duty front bumper, rugged bed rails, LIMITED seat trims, and a custom steering wheel with brushed aluminum centre. Buyers can have the body painted in either Pure Magnesium Metallic (grey) or Pearl White.
