2012 Yamaha RS Vector First Impressions

4-2-2011

by Pascal Bastien , moto123.com

In the RS Vector, though, the somewhat vague sensations at high speed require an adjustment period to learn not to overcompensate for the swaying of the skis. Once you get used to said sensations, you can better understand the effects and the corrections of the EPS and don’t try to interfere anymore. This is where the RS Vector offers the precision you’d expect from a GT sled, and the swaying and propensity to understeer disappear almost entirely, reassuring the rider on tight trails.

The RS Vector already had quite a few feathers in its cap for the active trail rider. Its exemplary ergonomics, easy manoeuvrability on various types of trails and unparalleled versatility rank it right up there with the best sleds in the class. Thanks to constant engineering efforts, the stereotype of the heavy and ponderous 4-stroke snowmobile has partly been dispelled. The EPS and new shock absorbers simply reinforce this new reality. Yamaha is serving up a refined RS Vector that’s more fun and easier to ride than ever.
