2011 Honda CBR125R Review

6-10-2011

by Pascal Bastien , moto123.com

The disc brakes at both ends deliver decent braking performance and predictable action for a bike that achieves a top speed of about 125 km/h.

More competent on the road and the track
The CBR125R's power and cruising speed prove adequate on byroads with a posted limit of 90 km/h, but fall a bit short on highways, especially on a very windy day. On the other hand, the machine excels in the city where it effortlessly navigates through traffic without shifting or keeping engine revs up all the time. Furthermore, it fares pretty well on small country roads, providing genuine excitement.

Also worth noting are a more comprehensive digital instrument panel and an ergonomics that suit short and tall riders alike. (Photo: Honda)

A track session with the new model and the old one (prepared for the CBR Challenge with upgraded suspension, mapping, muffler and footpegs) allowed me to appreciate how much the CBR125R has evolved. Posting slightly faster lap times and top speeds, the 2011 iteration happens to be more competent on the road and the track than its predecessor.

Also worth noting are a more comprehensive digital instrument panel, ergonomics that suit short and tall riders alike, as well as new grab handles for the passenger.

Bottom line
With more convenient solutions, friendly ergonomics for all, sharper riding dynamics, improved fuel economy and racier looks, the littlest CBR offers its most attractive package yet. It's a proud member of Honda's R lineage, which has been calling shots on race tracks around the world for many decades.

Pros
Friendly ergonomics for all
Improved fuel economy and range
Successful design, larger presence
