2010 Kymco Myroad 700i First Impressions

The Cadillac of scooters!

Kymco recently took the wraps off a new maxi-scooter it plans on launching in 2010. The classic design is credited to Italian stylists who've been working with the Taiwanese manufacturer for a number of years.

The Myroad 700i is powered by a 699cc, fuel-injected, liquid-cooled twin-cylinder engine. Preliminary specifications indicate an output of 44 horsepower.

While stationary, the Myroad feels much lighter than its 265 kilograms might lead you to expect, as the Kymco engineers produced a well balanced machine, one that iseasy to mount on the center.

The comprehensive instrumentation and controls inspire confidence, while the seat is wide and comfortable for solo and two-up riding. Under-seat storage on the prototype we rode could hold two open-face helmets ; storage space will be increased on production machines.

During our short test ride, I noticed that the Myroad 700i is very stable and easy to handle. Acceleration was impressive, while the machines always felt smooth and unruffled, even though the engine became more vocal as it climbed up the rev range.

The ABS-equipped brakes were progressive and stable. On paved roads, the scooter offers nice handling dynamics while maintaining a decent amount of ride comfort.

The 2010 Kymco Myroad 700i is tailor made for those who enjoys the open road.
