2009 KTM 450 SX and 505 SX Preview

11-26-2008

by Pascal Bastien , Auto123.com

As for the other differences that set the XC and SX models apart from the previous generation, the SX is equipped with longer A-arms and a wider axle, and it also benefits from a lower centre of gravity that ensures greater stability and better cornering. The SX models are equipped with an aluminum muffler as well as aluminum DWT wheels shod in 20-inch Maxxis RAZR MX tires. The WP shocks with auxiliary reservoir are adjustable for low- and high- speed compression, as well as rebound. The body is decked out in more aggressive graphics, the headlamp is replaced by a plastic fairing and the reverse gear has vanished altogether.

Magura components
The SX model calls upon two 180-mm Magura disc brakes with four-piston callipers up front and a 200-mm disc around back. As for ergonomics, the beast has inherited height-adjustable, aluminum Magura handlebars and a seat specially designed to facilitate the driver's shifts in position during aggressive track manoeuvres. KTM is launching an all-out assault on the sport ATV class with its two new purebred steeds that are just itching to take on the competition. And if the price seems a bit steep, well, the original parts equipping the 450 SX and 505 SX alone are worth the sales price of these two magnificent machines.
