2009 KTM 250 XCF-W Review

10-16-2009

by Pascal Bastien , moto123.com

No trail is too steep, too rocky or too muddy for the 250 XCF-W: it handles them all with smile-inducing ease. The one major blot on this copybook is the obtrusive noise level of the factory silencer. It does disturb the neighbourhood – you’re better off installing a muffler under 93 dB from a specialized manufacturer (such as the FMF Q4 Ti) if you plan on having fun around the cottage or other people – and before we are all legislated off public trails.

No trail is too steep, too rocky or too muddy for the 250 XCF-W: it handles them all with smile-inducing ease.

The 250 XCF-W is striking in its user-friendliness and efficiency. Even if KTM designed it with competition rather than leisure in mind, you catch yourself riding deftly and effortlessly and having the time of your life on ordinary Sunday outings. The always-present engine and the dynamic chassis make everything seem easy. High-level performance and disconcerting ease of use on all terrain: that’s the 250 XCF-W for you. As of today, there’s only one thing on my Christmas list this year!

Easy to use
Efficient and nimble on very rough terrain
Powerful, fun engine
Flexible (trail riding, enduro, motocross, jumps, day and night)
Exemplary ergonomics

None
