2009 Kawasaki Ninja 650R and ER-6n Preview

3-28-2009

by Pascal Bastien , moto123.com

An essential part of the bike's sporty personality, the brand's Parallel Twin engine achieves near-perfect balance between power and efficiency. The compact powertrain design makes for a narrower overall package which not only looks good and convenient but also enhances handling. While the Ninja's wheelbase is pretty short, Kawasaki managed to fit the muffler under the engine to lower the center of gravity and offer better riding dynamics and agility in corners.

Improvements to the electronic engine management system and the addition of a new fuel pump allowed engineers to further boost engine effectiveness, especially at low and medium revs.

The ER-6N obviously features all the little upgrades and tweaks of the Ninja 650R.

ER-6n
After a few years on the European market, the Ninja ER-6N finally crosses the Atlantic to the excitement of every naked bike fan. It shares virtually all its components with the 650R except for styling elements. The more noticeable fuel tank, minimalist steering head, aggressive side shrouds and modern, compact instrument panel give the ER-6N a well-executed masculine look.

Plain from every angle, the bike avoids superfluous design flourishes to focus the attention on the unorthodox frame. The ER-6N obviously features all the little upgrades and tweaks of the Ninja 650R while showing all its muscles and screaming character.

By updating the Ninja 650R and adding a sharp-looking, stripped-down model, Kawasaki should have no problem filling dealer showrooms this summer.
