2008 Yamaha Waverunner VX Review

9-30-2008

by Pascal Bastien , moto123.com

Extremely stable
The VX's hull is the product of many years of research and multiple series of tests. It offers up comfort worthy of the name, cutting through the waves so that the mouth of the pump stays well under water and doesn't take in too much air, which translates into a more linear performance. The VX is stable on stretches and corners aggressively. Some fans of aquatic acrobatics might find it a little too stable, but safety does come first. Thanks to its unshakeable stability, the VX offers unparalleled comfort on all surfaces. It also features spray guards that keep us nice and dry.

Yamaha commercialized the industry's first 4-stroke personal watercraft, and has considerably improved it since.

Well equipped
The VX sports an electronic instrument panel that includes a speedometer, an rpm counter, a fuel gauge as well as low fuel, low oil pressure and engine overheat warning lights. It also includes an engine control light that serves as an auto diagnosis function with alarm. Well padded, well designed and able to accommodate three people, the seat removes in under five seconds to access the engine. The VX offers up 70.8 litres of waterproof storage space divided into two compartments, one large one in the prow and a glove box under the handlebars. In addition, it's equipped with a large re-boarding step for waterskiing and swimming enthusiasts.

Thanks to its high-end style, its more-than-acceptable performance considering the engine's eco-friendliness, its excellent stability and, especially, its affordable price, the 2008 Yamaha Waverunner VX offers now more than ever a price-quality ratio that's hard to beat. It's the perfect introduction to the joys of wave running that won't have you applying for a second mortgage on the house.
