2008 Ski-Doo MX Z 600 H.O. SDI Preview

by moto123.com

The new REV-XP chassis comes in 12 different models such as the Trail, Adrenaline, Renegade, Renegade X, GSX and Summit, just to name a few. In addition to the famous 2-stroke, twin-cylinder 600 H.O. SDI engine, a couple of other powerplants are available, namely the 2-stroke, twin-cylinder 500SS and the mighty 800R Power T.E.K.

Every MX Z also sports an all-new suspension system derived from racing models. Called SC-5, this unique suspension is 4-kg lighter than the old SC-4. Its sturdier rear arms allow precise weight transfers in all conditions, while the optimized spring configuration provides a 15-mm gain in travel. Up front is a lighter, simpler suspension setup that still delivers the same levels of performance. Chrome-molybdenum steel wishbones are key additions that reduce weight.

Moreover, the new ultra-lightweight Camoplast Ripsaw track offers superior grip and a quieter operation. Instead of a rack-and-pinion steering, engineers chose to incorporate a lighter, more traditional lever system. The number of parts and joints has been kept to a minimum, which eliminates any unwanted motion between the parts and improves the overall precision of the steering.

Never seen before
The 2008 MX Z snowmobiles are equipped with a new LCD digital information display featuring analog speedometer and tachometer as well as an electric fuel gauge. Premium models get a much more sophisticated instrument cluster offering the rider important data like average speed, air temperature, altitude and fuel consumption. It's one of the most comprehensive dashboards in the entire industry.

To sum up, BRP created a revolutionary snowmobile lineup with a chassis that exceeds virtually every technical standard in the industry. Most definitely, the MX Z will be a top contender for the title of "Best Sport Snowmobile for 2008".
