2008 Kymco Venox 250 Review

7-18-2008

by Pascal Bastien , moto123.com

Taiwanese manufacturer Kymco has been selling motorcycles since 1963. Today, its global product lineup includes not only motorcycles but also scooters and ATVs. Unlike domestic rivals who sell vehicles under no specific brand names, Kymco (Kwang Yang Motors Company Ltd) is very serious about its business, with a well-established dealer network offering great service for parts and accessories. Moreover, every Kymco product is backed by one of the best warranties in the industry.

The Venox 250 is the only Kymco motorcycle sold in Canada.

A single motorcycle choice
For a couple of years now, the company has been producing various scooter and ATV models for the North American market. However, the Venox 250 is the only Kymco motorcycle sold in Canada. Incidentally, it's also one of the best-selling 250-cc cruiser bikes in the world. Enthusiasts looking for an affordably-priced, rider-friendly, full-size cruiser should definitely take a closer look.

This market segment is mainly about functionality, comfort and user-friendliness -- if you're into spirited riding, you'd better look elsewhere. The Kymco Venox 250 stands out by offering excellent ergonomics and enough room for large-size adults. With a wide, nicely-sculpted rider's seat and a reasonable distance between the rider and handlebars, you feel like you're at the helm of a medium-displacement motorcycle. Despite its 249-cc engine, this machine is quite fun to ride and it can take you on any road.

Feels bigger
Give a lot of credit to this liquid-cooled, 8-valve, DOHC V-twin; with 28 horsepower and 14 lb-ft of torque on tap, it's by far the most potent engine in its class. The fat powerband starts very early, which is truly remarkable for such a small displacement.
