2008 Kawasaki ZX-10R Preview

10-23-2007

by moto123.com

For 2008, Kawasaki's supersport flagship reaches new heights. Ready to take on a segment in which innovations abound, the all-new ZX-10R is inspired from the brand's excellent GP models. Developed to become one of the top 1,000-cc sports bikes on the market, this machine will leave no one indifferent.

The new ZX-10R is the result of intense efforts by Kawasaki engineers to take performance to a higher level. Their challenge was quite a big one, considering that the superbike segment is one of the industry's most competitive. The Japanese manufacturer is going back to its roots by emphasizing the completely-redesigned 2008 ZX-10R's racing tradition.

Optimum thrills
The new ZX-10R was designed as a highly-communicative, exceptionally-skilled package that would enable the two-way dialog between rider and machine. How? By making sure the drivetrain delivers optimum thrills and is instantly responsive to the rider's inputs. The bar sure was set extremely high, but Kawasaki engineers acquired a lot of expertise from their work on the ZX-6R and 6RR Ninjas, not to mention their direct contribution to the development of the brand's factory superbikes.

The aluminum frame came to life by using an ultra-modern process consisting of a pressure-cast composite structure. Such cutting-edge technology allows outstanding overall rigidity and ideal flexibility in strategic areas. As for the suspension, the ZX-10R features a 43-mm inverted front fork with DLC antifriction coating and preload/rebound adjustments. In the back is the famous Uni-Trak system with a fully-adjustable gas shock that features dual (low- and high-speed) compression damping as well as spring preload/rebound adjustments.
