BMW introduces its all-new advanced bike, the HP2 Sport. Being the result of many years of intensive development, this mount means a lot to the German manufacturer. The HP2 Sport is the third member of the HP family, alongside the HP2 Enduro and the famous HP2 Megamoto. These outstanding motorcycles are developed with passion by a team of renowned experts. We should point out that the HP2 Sport is a first for BMW, which has never offered such an exceptional and unique sportsbike. Designed for ambitious riders who crave high-speed corners, the HP2 Sport features advanced technologies that were sourced from the top racing series.


Sophisticated powertrain
This new BMW carries over the powertrain of the old Sportboxter R1200S. Although this engine has some drawbacks in terms of aerodynamics (because of the unusual boxer configuration of the two cylinders), BMW made significant upgrades in order to build on one of the richest traditions in motorcycling history. The legendary mill has been revised from the ground up and now generates 128 horsepower and 85 lb-ft of torque at only 6,000 rpm. These figures were made possible thanks to numerous technical modifications to the cylinder head and intake manifold. The 1,170-cc engine features a chain-driven, DOHC cylinder head.

Bore and stroke remain unchanged, but the new forged-aluminum pistons increase power at higher revs. The HP2 Sport benefits from an all-new, more compact stainless steel exhaust system that helps reduce the lower section of the bike. This unique design allows the HP2 Sport to lean even closer to the ground in tight corners.

The gearbox was also borrowed from the R1200S; however, it gets ultra-close ratios for aggressive track riding. One of the most surprising features on the HP2 Sport is without question the new, racing-style aluminum shifter, which allows quicker gear shifts than a traditional system... with no power interruption and no need to use the clutch. Applying such a system on a production motorcycle is an industry's first.
