2008 Arctic Cat F-Series Preview

Improved engines
While the new Twin Spar chassis is heavier, Arctic Cat's 2-stroke engines manage to do a pretty good job. Engineers spent countless hours to improve their operation and output for 2007-2008. Noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) levels have been reduced to offer a much smoother and much quieter ride.

A choice of five 2-stroke, twin-cylinder engines is available, ranging from 499 to 999 cc. One of them is the good old 570-cc, fan-cooled powerplant, which now benefits from a few notable features like standard electric start and mechanical reverse.

Meanwhile, all liquid-cooled engines are fed by a battery-less electronic fuel injection system. This unique system adjusts to the temperature and altitude while reducing noxious emissions. The computer of F1000, F8 and F6 models has been reprogrammed to improve fuel economy without compromising engine performance. The F-series also receives a new exhaust deflector to protect the finish of the side panel.

A very sophisticated system
Arctic Cat's ACT Diamond Direct Drive planetary gear case replaces the traditional drive system with a sequence of CNC-machined gears. It allows reduced track speed at engagement without sacrificing top speed. But that's not all: also included for 2008 is a push-button reverse technology. Finally, the gears of the F8 have been revised to deliver increased efficiency.

With a host of high-performance technical features, a well-executed design and an ultra-modern chassis, the 2008 Arctic Cat F-Series clearly has the potential to wind up on top of the podium.
