Parts Canada SBK: A first victory for Clint McBain

6-30-2008

by Luc Fradette

Acceleration Racing Suzuki's team owner and rider Clint McBain, in his first race of the 2008 season of the Parts Canada Superbike Championship, won his first race of the season at Calgary's Race City Motorsport Park.

McBain even managed to take a dominant lead over runner-up and season opener winner Jordan Szoke by more than 9 seconds. McBain overtook Szoke in lap No.4 and he was never threatened after that.

Completing the Superbike podium was Kevin Lacombe of Granby, Quebec, riding the Team Toyota / Fast Company Racing Yamaha. Lacombe beat a trio of riders to the final spot on the box, with Chris Peris finishing fourth ahead of Brett McCormick and Francis Martin.

Szoke continues to lead the Superbike standings with 99 points over the 85 of Lacombe. Two-time Canadian Superbike champion Francis Martin currently sits third in the championship with 59 points.
