DTM: Paul di Resta ahead of Bruno Spengler, again

9-19-2010

by Emmanuel Rolland

Paul Di Resta (C Class Mercedes) took another win in Oschersleben ahead of his teammate Bruno Spengler.

Di Resta started from pole position ahead of Spengler, and both drivers maintained their positions in the first laps. Spengler moved up in first place after his first pit stop, but got stock behind Timo Scheider's Audi after his second stop.

Spengler was quicker than the German driver, but he could not find a way pass him until Scheider put a wheel on the gravels, and was forced to retire with a puncture.

The Canadien was back in second place, but he lost time and Di Resta was able to take the first position after his second stop.

The Scot took his second win in-a-row ahead of Bruno Spengler (as he did in Brands Hatch two weeks ago), while Mattias Ekstrom’s Audi took third place.

Spengler still stands in first position in the championship standing, seven points ahead of Di Resta, with three races remaining.

"Second place is quite good, Spengler told Auto123.com. My first stint was a bit difficult as I had a lack of grip, it was very slippery. The car was better during my second stint, and it was even better in my third stint.

"Unfortunately, I left the pits behind Scheider, and that cost me a lot of time. I could have won the race if Scheider was behind me after my last stop, but I am still happy with this result."
