The Women's Stock Class is open to all Amateur-level women riders, competing on liquid-cooled sleds up to 600cc in engine displacement.

The new class will allow younger women the chance to compete at an entry level before stepping up to the Pro Women's Class. Women's Stock entrants will also be allowed to race in Junior, age-appropriate classes during race weekends. The new class will be featured at all National events this season, except the Ski-Doo Grand Prix de Valcourt in Quebec.

"We have received a lot of feedback from our women riders, looking for a place to hone their skills," said Executive Vice President of Operations Kent Lungstrom. "We determined that it's appropriate to sanction the new class, so now women will have an entry-level class in which to gain experience.

"This further adds to our overall goals of building a ladder system into Snocross racing," added Lungstrom. "These riders are the future stars of the PowerSports Snowmobile Tour. So, giving them the ability to gain experience as they move through our different classes benefits both the Tour and the riders."

The first race on the 2006-2007 WPSA PowerSports Snowmobile Tour season is scheduled for Nov. 24-26, 2006 with the AMSOIL Duluth National at Spirit Mountain in Duluth, Minn.
