THE FIGHT FOR ATV RACING SUPREMACY COMES DOWN TO THE FINAL RACE AS POWERSPORTS ATV TOUR READIES FOR KEYSTONE STATE SHOWDOWN

The points chases will come down the final races of the year this weekend, as the WPSA PowerSports ATV Tour makes its first visit to Western Pennsylvania. The Grand Championship National, scheduled for this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Field of Dreams, represents the 10th and final event of the 2007 season.

This weekend's events will be telecast on ESPN2 on Sept. 28 at 3 p.m. EDT.

The racing weekend will feature the nation's top Pro riders, competing in three Classes: SuperQuad Pro 450, QuadTerrain Challenge Pro Stock, and SuperSport Side by Side. The SuperQuad Pro 450 Class features big air, motocross style racing. QuadTerrain Challenge features larger, utility-type ATVs, competing on an obstacle course that includes log jams, mud bogs, rock crawls, as well as high-speed sections.

The SuperSport Class comprises four-wheel utility vehicles piloted by a driver and co-driver, sitting side by side. The purpose-built racing machines compete on a modified course that includes both big-air sections, as well as obstacles.

The race weekend will also feature nearly 20 other classes for Pro Am, Amateur, Junior and Women's classes.

SuperQuad Pro 450
A clash that has raged all year will finally come to an end as local rider John Natalie, Jr. will attempt to hold off the charges of sophomore Pro rider Dustin Wimmer. Natalie (No. 13 Elka, Maxxis/Honda), from Houtzdale, Pa., holds a slim 11-point lead on Wimmer (No. 191 MSR, Pro Taper, Yoshimura/Suzuki) going into this weekend's race.

Meanwhile, Wimmer, who hails from Centerville, Pa., as well as his teammates Chad Wienen and defending titleholder Doug Gust are all in contention in a four-quad race for the Riders' Championship.

Suzuki's dominance in this year's Manufacturers' Championship is best exemplified by the fact that a Suzuki quad needs only to start Sunday's final to give the factory its second consecutive title. In fact, Suzuki has won five races this year, the most of any manufacturer.

QuadTerrain Pro Stock
Though Can-Am has already clinched its second consecutive Manufacturers' Championship, the QuadTerrain Pro Stock Riders' Championship remains very much in contention. Jesse West showed that hard work and determination do work out as the rider of the No. 888 West Racing/Arctic Cat holds a scant 15-point lead in the title chase.

Trailing him is Scott Kilby (No. 207 Warnert Racing/Can-Am), Rory Beckman (No. 10 Jack Link's/Arctic Cat), and 2006 Riders' Champion Daryl Rath (No. 67 Jack Link's/Arctic Cat).

The final rider eligible for the title is Chris Borich (No. 2 Warnert Racing/Can-Am). Though he only ran a part-time schedule with WPSA this season, Borich made his time here count as he won six of the seven races in which he competed. Borich isn't scheduled to compete this weekend as he's racing full time in another series.

All Pro Class Riders will be vying for one of the richest purses in ATV racing here. The Tour will award $22,500 in purse monies for the SuperQuad Pro 450 and QuadTerrain Pro Stock finals. The purse pays to 20th place in the QuadMX Series and to 15th place in QuadTerrain Challenge. The purse structure awards $4,000 to win each QuadMX final and $2,000 to win in each QuadTerrain Challenge final, with $15,000 and $7,500 available in each Series final, respectively.

Tickets, which start at $15 for adults and $5 for kids 6-15, will be available at the gate on Saturday.
