WPSA: Jones and Yokley win PowerSports ATV Tour event at Echeconnee

6-5-2006

by Flagworld

"Suzuki and Yoshimura have really been behind us this year with this new 450," added Jones. "I'm glad just to be able to ride it."

The Pro Stock QuadTerrain Challenge final was another study in back-to-front riding, as Yokley, while challenging ATVriders.com Rock'n'Roll $500 bonus winner Scott Kilby (No. 227 Can-Am, Maxxis, Moose/Can-Am) for the lead, pegged a log in the log-jam section and went over the bars of his quad. Quick work paid off, as Yokley hopped back on, restarted, and made up five places in three laps to take the lead from Michael Swift (No. 217 Can-Am, Maxxis, Rox/Can-Am) on lap five. From there, Yokley was untouched as he cruised to victory, ahead of Brock Parker (No. 493 Can-Am) and Chris Borich (No. 2 Honda).

"I picked my way from the back, but I was going for the lead and I stuffed a log hard," said Yokley, who earned his first win and his third podium of the season. "I was thrown off the quad and I got bummed out for a second. But I'm used to bad things happening on the race track, so I jumped back on and collected myself. I picked my way back through the field, took the lead on the last lap and I just cruised.

"Can-Am has a super-competitive team and their riders are some of the best of the best, but this Suzuki is a pretty good machine, as well, and I'm having a blast on it," concluded Yokley.
