MotoGP: Hayden impressed with Indianapolis layout

4-8-2008

by Luc Fradette

The famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway will host its first MotoGP race in September.

It features a new configuration for the MotoGP bikes, different to the one used for Formula One since 2000 and the motorcycles will run in the opposite direction.

American Nicky Hayden was invited to ride on the track on Monday and he says he has been impressed by the new Indianapolis layout.

"I've been to speedways and been to a lot of tracks, but just the size of this place is enormous and I was excited to be here and be a part of it."

The American rode a Honda CBR1000 production bike around the 2.620-mile circuit and was impressed by how fast the track is.

The Repsol Honda rider reckons the MotoGP bikes will reach 200 mph on this fast road course.
