Québec's most accomplished motocross rider ever, Jean-Sébastien Roy or "JSR", will give his army of Montréal fans a final salute as he participates in the 31st Edition of the Montréal Supercross at the Olympic Stadium on Saturday September 20th 2008.

The 34-year-old from Acton Vale, Quebec will turn his last laps in the Olympic Stadium in front of a home crowd that saw him win four times since 1995. To mark this historic occasion, the organizers of the Supercross will honor the five-time Canadian Motocross Champion with a special tribute.

"Jean-Sébastien has had an illustrious career," stated Pierre Corbeil - Executive Producer of the event. "After September 20th, Jean-Sébastien Roy's name should be added to the short list of other Québec motorsport greats such as the Villeneuve's and the likes of Duhamel, Cabana and Carpentier. Since the middle of the 1990's he has showed his greatness to the thousands of fans that came to cheer him on at the Supercross. He deserves the very special tribute we intend to offer him in his last professional race in Montréal this September."

Roy's finest moments, referenced by Pierre Corbeil, include the eight podium finishes earned in Montréal, including four victories between 1995 and 2004. Last year, after a one-year sabbatical, the Acton Vale rider finished sixth at the Montréal Supercross - the best Canadian result that night behind four American riders and a Frenchman. With a career total of 29 wins and five Canadian titles, Roy has also made it twice to the World Finals held in Europe. He will no doubt come to the Olympic Stadium determined as ever to add to his win total.

"I really owe it to my fans to make a final professional run at home," explained Roy who has spent most of this season coaching his Toyota/Yamaha Blackfoot Fox Racing team-mates. "The Olympic Stadium has always felt like home and I feel the support of the crowd there at every turn and every jump when I'm out competing. I've been training hard with my team-mates since the start of the season and competing in the Québec Championship races since early spring. All I'll say is, you better believe that I'm coming to the Montréal Supercross with one aim - going home with a win at my final Montréal event!"

The organizers of the Montréal Supercross will unveil later on this summer the full details of the special tribute to Jean-Sébastien Roy planned for his final major race on Saturday 20th September.
