AMA Daytona SportBike -Races 1 and 2 at Fontana

Two wins for Eslick and for Buell

Danny Eslick turned in a dominating performance during the AMA Pro Daytona SportBike races with two victories in the new-for-2009 class at the doubleheader presented at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana (CA). These two victories for Team Rossmeyer/RMR were in fact the first for the Buell 1125R in major national level racing.

The Buell 1125R took full advantage of the considerable torque produced by the 1200cc V-twin engine on the tightest track in the AMA season, to beat the Japanese 600 cc machines, We can expect the Japanese machines to shine on the quicker tracks, unless the AMA changes the rules to give the Buell more power. The AMA rightly believes that a winning American machine is key to building back the popularity of road racing in the US, much to the distress of Japanese manufacturers of smaller machines for that class.
