2008 Harley-Davidson Dyna Preview

7-1-2007

by moto123.com

The Dyna family remains closely tied to the brand's philosophy. The various models combine the power of a true American V-twin engine with the styling of the ultra-light FX frame. This amazing recipe offers hardcore custom fanatics exceptional stability and unparalleled handling.

Torque to spare

Every Dyna model is motivated by the legendary and charismatic Twin Cam V-twin engine from Harley-Davidson. This mill is now beefier: 96 cubic inches (1584 cc). It is fed by an electronic sequential port fuel injection system calibrated to deliver ultra-low revs at idle for enhanced mechanical feel and a sweeter-sounding exhaust note. The Twin Cam 96 is mated to a 6-speed Cruise Drive transmission that optimizes highway riding and reduces unwanted vibrations. The engine produces 91 lb-ft of torque at only 3,000 rpm, but most of it is available at 1,500 rpm. Impressive!

For 2008, the Dynas receive braided brake lines for superior overall control and a better road feel. The Dyna Street Bob comes back with the same simplistic design featuring a solo seat, high handlebars and a black powder-coated engine.

Wide selection of models
The purest and least expensive Dyna is back for 2008. The Super Glide model offers infinite possibilities in terms of customization. Traditional spoked wheels, a dual seat and additional chrome trim are only a few examples of what the 2008 Dyna Super Glide Custom has in store. This bike's instruments are mounted on the Fat Bob fuel tank.

The Dyna Low Rider will again be offered in 2008, sporting one of the lowest seats in the industry and the lowest in the entire Harley-Davidson lineup.

105 years

This year, Harley-Davidson is celebrating its 105th anniversary. Consequently, designers and engineers decided to create three commemorative models. Wide Glide, Super Glide and Low Rider Dynas can be equipped with the 105th Anniversary Package including special badging, an exclusive two-tone paint scheme, specific air cleaner and timer covers as well as other commemorative inserts. Obviously, these models will be available in limited numbers, so a serialized plaque is fitted on each unit.

As you can see, the king of motorcycling entertainment decided to celebrate its 105 years of existence with a splash. As a result, the new Dyna family is more enticing than ever. In addition, the new 2008 models are very competitive in terms of pricing -- further proof that the American manufacturer always works extremely hard to offer cruiser bike lovers unbeatable value.
