Is your motorcycle ready to hibernate?

Step 5
Throttle cables have to be regularly lubricated with a light oil. The latter should not contain any detergent so as to avoid damages to the inner tubing. Detergent makes the rubber expand and, consequently, actuating the cables becomes harder.

Clutch and brake lever pivots as well as footpegs also require lubrication.

The gear selection mechanism needs a good greasing, otherwise significant wear might ensue and shifts will feel harder and less precise. Proper operation of the transmission is thus compromised, potentially leading to a breakdown.

Clutch and brake lever pivots as well as footpegs also require lubrication. Use a lubricant that won't be diluted by water when you wash your bike. Insoluble synthetic oil is the best pick.

Lastly, pour a stabilizing agent into the fuel tank and keep the latter full. If your motorcycle relies on carburetors, you have to clean them to prevent sedimentation. Better safe than sorry, don't you think?

Useful tip: Write down every work you perform on your bike. This way, you'll know what's left to be done come springtime.
