Husqvarna Motorcycles, a part of the BMW Group since 2007, has just announced that long-time two-wheeled product distributor Barrett Marketing Group will take over the distribution of Husqvarna motorcycles across Canada.

The new Husqvarna WR 300 two-stroke is one of the weapons of choice for top level Enduro racing world wide. It is aimed directly at a similar machine from the Orange manufacturer from Austria. This will be a nice war to watch!

Husqvarna announced 2010 models and dealers at the Toronto Motorcycle Show this past December 11 to 13, and will participate in upcoming shows in Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver and Montreal.

Guy Giroux, the vastly experienced off-road racer from Quebec, will run the official Husqvarna Canada enduro-only Race team. He will also ride Husqvarna bikes for a full season of FMSQ off-road events in Quebec (Enduro, Scrambles, Enduro-Cross), as well as participate in the Canadian Enduro Championship and run a few early-season event in the US as part of his training program.

These developments are great news for the veteran rider: “I have been riding Husky bikes for a few weeks now, and they are winners. We are going after two championships next year, no doubt about it!” Giroux will also take on a few other riders. “A few young guys from out West really impressed me last year, and I know I will find another winning rider to turn Husqvarna into a major presence for years to come”.

As in 2009, moto123.com will report on Guy’s activities throughout the 2010 season.
