Harley Davidson launches new V-Rod ad campaign

It may seem unusual to pair the sophisticated style of an American supermodel with the rawness and masculinity of a Harley V-Rod, but the American motorcycle manufacturer is hoping the unusual approach will sell more bikes.

Harley Davidson is launching the 2009 V-Rod Muscle by teaming it up with American supermodel Marisa Miller. The bike features a powerful and sculpted physique that communicates a contemporary and urban sense of style, with drag-strip inspired elements. It's powered by a Revolution V-Twin engine that's co-developed with Porsche, and the powerplant delivers power and sophistication in line with the bikes styling.

"The V-Rod Muscle stands out in a crowd of copies and generic motorcycle profiles," said Mark-Hans Richer, senior VP and chief marketing officer for Harley-Davidson. "It stretches the very definition of what it means to be a Harley-Davidson motorcycle."

The commanding physique, athletic stance and confidence exuded by the V-Rod make Marisa Miller an ideal match for the bike. The popular model grew up in California and has a strong appreciation for the brand.

"To represent such an iconic American brand is incredible," she says. "I have grown up watching my dad and uncle ride Harleys. It's amazing to circle back at this point in my career, and work with a brand I have so much respect for."

Harley Davidson says their two American supermodels can now be seen in various locations online, and that the campaign launches full swing early next week.
