Senior Vice President of Product Development Ron Hutchinson Retires
After more than 30 years of service, Ron Hutchinson ("Hutch"), Senior Vice President of Product Development for Harley-Davidson Motor Company, announced his plans to retire, as of April 30. "Ron has led with a relentless pursuit of excellence in everything he's done, and his contributions to the success of the Motor Company can't be overstated," said Jim McCaslin, President and COO. "His passion for our customers and products is evident; he bleeds black and orange. And there's one thing I know - Ron will retire aggressively!"

A graduate of Purdue University and the University of Detroit, Hutchinson held a series of engineering, manufacturing and quality positions from 1975-1985. During that time, in addition to the Softail, he led the formulation of the Company's Quality initiative and the restructuring of the Service and Quality organization. In 1985, Hutch left Harley-Davidson to be Principal and Vice President of a quality and manufacturing consultancy, where he retained ties with H-D by performing project work in the plants. He returned to the Company as Vice President of Total Quality in 1989. He has held a number of senior leadership positions since then, and has left a true legacy through building the industry-leading Parts & Accessories division, and launching the Custom Vehicle Operations(tm) (CVO) and Tri Glide(tm) product lines.

Hutchinson has also been a key player in the Company's contemporary racing presence, entering H-D into the NHRA Drag Racing scene, which now holds four world championships, and revitalizing flat track racing resulting in three consecutive championships.

"It's been a wonderful ride," said Hutchinson. "I've been privileged to lead teams of excited, empowered folks as they have created new markets, products and services for our customers that helped drive Motor Company growth over the last 30 years."
