F1: Felipe Massa back behind the wheel of a kart

It seems a lifetime ago, but it's just over two months: the terrible accident in Budapest lies behind Felipe Massa, who took another step in his programme to improve his conditions - as a driver that is - because as a man he has been 100 percent quite a while ago.

Felipe Massa in action during the Go-kart International Challenge, November 2007.

Felipe Massa got back behind the wheel of a racing vehicle yesterday morning in Granja Viana, Brazil where he drove a kart.

Accompanied by his personal doctor Dino Altman, Felipe drove a couple of laps, before some heavy rain interrupted this first session. Today Felipe went back onto the track for a whole 60 laps.

In the next days he’ll have more opportunities in the kart before he'll fly to Maranello, where, the week after the Singapore GP, he will use the static simulator at the Gestione Sportiva.

Naturally there is some speculation that Felipe might already be back racing at a Grand Prix this season, the one in Interlagos.

"There is absolutely nothing true in this story," Scuderia Ferrari spokesman Luca Colajanni told www.ferrari.com.

"Felipe's recovery is proceeding in a very positive way, but there are no plans to accelerate his comeback."
