Often criticized by motorists for being nothing but cash cows for governments, speed cameras can provide juicy pictures and stories at times – like today.
Boris Maier was riding his motorcycle well above the posted limit of 80 km/h near Bern, Switzerland when he suddenly noticed a speed trap. He tried to save a big penalty by braking hard but at that point he lost control and passed the camera sliding over the ground.
Ironically enough, the camera shot the rider at 107 km/h, sending him a hefty fine in addition to his damaged bike and bruised ego.
Still, Mr. Maier was quite lucky that he didn’t get caught at 110 km/h, because then he would have lost his bike and driving license in accordance with Swiss laws.
