WSBK: Neukirchner signs for Pedercini

2-4-2006

Two weeks after the shock announcement that there was insufficient budget to run both Max Neukirchner and Alex Barros at Klaffi Honda this season - resulting in the Max being forced to look elsewhere - the young German has rescued his World Superbike career by signing for Pedercini Ducati.

According to his official website, Neukirchner - one of the breakthrough stars of the 2005 season - has signed a one year deal with the team, and is being supported by Ducati Germany and Ioannoni. Max needed to bring some finance himself, but far less than was required at Klaffi (who are still to officially announce Barros).

"I am very happy to go yet further in Superbike," Neukirchner wrote. "My goal this year will be to constantly improve and get regular points for Ducati, because first I must get used to my new situation. I would like to thank my many fans for their support."

Neukirchner finished 12th in the 2005 WSBK standings, with a best finish of third at Phillip Island race two.

Ivan Clementi and Lucio Pedercini were listed on the recent 2006 WSBK entry list as riding for Team Pedercini this season.
