Honda's Casey Stoner has won the United States MotoGP Grand Prix at the fabulous Laguna Seca circuit and stretched his championship lead over Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo.

Polesitter Lorenzo took advantage of his starting position to stay in the lead all thru the race, although he had to face a lot of pressure from the Honda riders but had finally to surrender to a quickest Stoner with only 6 laps to go.

Dani Pedrosa was the one who started chasing after Lorenzo but by mid-race it looks as though he did not have the pace no more to stay in the battle; leaving the way to a faster Stoner.

The Australian was not able to gain any advantage over the Spaniard but on lap 26, Stoner was able to pass and take the lead.

After that, no one was able to match the Honda ace pace and he pulled away to take his fifth win of 2011.

Pedrosa dropped back in third, while Ben Spies recovered from a bad start to bring the second Yamaha through to fourth in his home race, ahead of Dovizioso.
