MotoGP: More time during race weekend

1-17-2011

by Luc Fradette

The MotoGP Grand Prix commission revealed that the riders will have more time during each race weekend as it announced a more liberal MotoGP practice schedule.

MotoGP riders will have two 45-minute Friday practice sessions, a 45-minute free practice on Saturday morning while qualifying will be on for 60 minutes in the afternoon.

The single Friday practice schedule was put into place two seasons ago but, with Valentino Rossi moving to Ducati Marlboro, Casey Stoner to Repsol Honda, and Ben Spies going to the factory Yamaha team, they'll all get a little more seat time.

The practice time is also welcome because of the relative lack of pre-season testing but more importantly, they'll have an opportunity to make changes on Friday afternoon based on Friday morning's practice.
