MotoGP: Honda and Stoner closing-on title

10-12-2011

by moto123.com

The coming Australian Grand Prix will be the first occasion in which both Casey Stoner and Honda will try and wrap-up the 2011 MotoGP World Championship.

Stoner has now a 40-point advantage over rival Jorge Lorenzo (Yamaha) and the Australian only needs to get this gap to 50 to secure the championship.

Stoner will be hard to beat. Not only did he have a dominant season but he also had incredible success in the past at Phillip Island, winning the last four Australian races with Ducati.

"I love coming back home to race in Australia, it's always a lot of fun and we don't get to visit so often, as well as the track, the general atmosphere is incredible and I always enjoy the weekend as a whole and the fans are fantastic.

Not only can Stoner claim Honda's first MotoGP title since 2006 on Sunday, but a finish of third or better by any RC212V rider will hand HRC the 2011 Constructors' Title.
