Gresini Honda team boss Fausto Gresini has confirmed that the team will take part in the MotoGP season’s finale at the Valencia Grand Prix to honour the memory of its late rider Marco Simoncelli.

In the days following the tragic death of Simoncelli, the team had originally stated its intention to skip the final event of the season, but later hinted at a change of heart by confirming it would attend.

Gresini will now race at the Ricardo Tormo circuit with Hiroshi Aoyama carrying the team's hopes aboard a sole RC212V. Additionally, Gresini will also compete in the Moto2 class with Yuki Takahashi and Michele Pirro.

The decision to race means Aoyama will get one final MotoGP appearance before he joins Honda in the World Superbike Championship.
