MotoGP: Dani Pedrosa wins in Germany

7-18-2011

by moto123.com

Honda’s Dani Pedrosa won the MotoGP German Grand Prix, at the Sachsenring in front of both Jorge Lorenzo (Yamaha) and team-mate and pole sitter Casey Stoner.

Right at the start, Pedrosa had the best over his rivals and took the lead, but not for long as Lorenzo who was running second dived past his countryman to take the race lead.

Stoner was not really impressive on the track at first, even letting his Honda sidekick Andrea Dovizioso have the better on him, but by lap four Stoner was picking his way back to the front - overtaking both his team-mates then Lorenzo in quick succession.

The Australian could not loose his pursuers with Lorenzo, Pedrosa, Dovizioso and Marco Simoncelli, closely following on his tracks for the better part of the first half of the race.

Then on lap 13, Lorenzo passed Stoner followed shortly after by Pedrosa who started chasing the leader and eventually took over the lead to finally cross the finish line with a gap of a little more than one second over the Yamaha ace.

Dovizioso slipped back to finish fourth, ahead of Ben Spies (Yamaha) and Marco Simoncelli (Gresini Honda).
