Montreal Boat Show 2009 (video)

1-29-2009

by Marc Cantin , moto123.com

The boating industry is moving in leaps and bounds to reflect the current need to reduce both pollution and costs, in order to remain viable over the coming years. Naturally, they are also working hard to offer ever more exciting boats to its customer base.

One great example of that progress is the fact that today's models use 66% less fuel than similar boat did 15 years ago. Modern machines pollute far less and are cheaper to operate, two key mantras for today's boat and engine manufacturers. It gets even better when you see that current models are also more comfortable and easier to operate. Everyone is looking to make life more enjoyable at every level, from jet ski to longer range cruisers.

At moto123.com, we focus on smaller turbine propulsion boats. Here is a quick sketch of what you can look for in that category at the show.

Sea-Doo
BRP introduces two new models for 2009, the RXT iS with 255 hp, and the GTX Limited iS 255, the most powerful (255 hp) and well-equipped Sea-Doo watercraft ever produced.

Kawasaki
The Green Team is well known for their love of engines and power, and new 2009 models follow in the corporate tradition. The Ultra 260LX jet ski boasts 260 hp, the highest in the industry. And the same engine shows up in the Ultra 260X 2009, a no-frills performance oriented machine.

Honda
The AquaTrax F-15X is back for 2009 with an upgraded engine - think compressor, and inter-cooler. This Honda model is the only one sold in Canada, exclusively through Honda Power Products dealers.

Yamaha
Two new high performance Waverunner models, the FZR et FZS, come with a plethora of standard equipment and features aimed at improving the handling and raising the thrill level for the lucky ones aboard. Another new model, the FX Cruiser HO, offers a lower cost, less pollution from a slightly detuned engine, and all the comfort that today's buyer wants. And don't forget the new 232 Limited S jet pump propulsion boat, a luxury model with an exhaustive list of accessories available from Yamaha.
