After four years of top-secret research and development, Taiwanese manufacturer Gogoro has unveiled a fully electric scooter that doesn't require a plug. All you have to do is to swap the batteries at one of the various GoStations that will be built sometime in the near future – and it takes just six seconds!
Designed by Panasonic, the battery packs provide a range of 100 km and allow the Gogoro Smartscooter to reach 50 km/h in 4.2 seconds on its way to a top speed of 95 km/h.
The aluminum body is reportedly 30% lighter and two times stronger than any other scooter on the market right now. It allows cornering at an angle of up to 48.5 degrees. And thanks to the waterproof drivetrain, the Smartscooter can safely be ridden in 30 cm of water.

It really is smart, by the way, monitoring your riding habits and making the necessary adjustments in real time to maximize power or efficiency. There's also a Gogoro app that keeps users connected and informed about the remaining range and nearby GoStations, for instance.
Market availability has yet to be announced, although a GoStation network is expected to be implemented in Southeast Asia first. Gogoro CEO Horace Luke confirmed that the city of San Francisco is also a possibility.
