Berlin-Spandau BMW Motorcycles Plant closing in on 2,000,000th unit over 40 year history

BMW Plant Berlin, where all BMW motorcycles are built, now looks back at a tradition of no less than forty years, with more than 1,882,400 BMW motorcycles coming off the production lines to date.

What started in 1969 with 400 employees and 30 units of the then-new BMW /5 motorcycle models built per day, reached 1,000,000 motorcycles in 1992. Another milestone was the production of the 500,000th GS model, a R 1200 GS, on May 12, 2009, and production of the new S 1000 RR supersport model which started this year.
