BMW fine-tunes S1000RR for 2012

BMW unveiled the next-generation S1000RR superbike which promises improved handling, stability, and performance.

The almighty 193-horsepower engine comes back for 2012 with little to no changes. The 455-pound unit does feature a reconfigured throttle to maximize overall response, though.

BMW engineers also worked hard to enhance the bike's agility. The inverted front fork and spring strut benefit from a new internal structure providing a wider range of damping forces (from comfort to performance). Moreover, the revised suspension geometry allows even better steering accuracy and feedback.

From a design standpoint, the tail section appears leaner than the outgoing model's. Subtle modifications have been made to the asymmetrical side panels as well. The speedometer display has been redesigned and made easier to read. It can now be dimmed and provides additional functions.

Finally, the 2012 BMW S1000RR offers an extended range of options and special equipment – a great way for owners to further customize their ride.
