AMA SX: Stewart wins in Seattle

More than 52,000 fans witnessed James Stewart (Yamaha) victory in the 15th round of the AMA Supercross Class 450, presented at the Qwest Field in Seattle followed by two Honda riders Kevin Windham and Chad Reed.

Ivan Tedesco (Kawasaki) took the holeshot followed closely by James Stewart and Chad Reed, who took over from him in the corners ensuing while Kevin Millsaps (Yamaha), Andrew Short (KTM) and Austin Stroupe (Yamaha) crashed heavily putting the latest out of the race.

By Lap 5 of the 20 in the main event, Stewart has now an eight-second lead over Reed with Windham in third and Mike Alessi in fourth.

On Lap 12, series’ champion Ryan Dungey (Suzuki) loses control of his bike and falls back to sixth. He would fall twice after that but incredibly managed to come back and finished 5th.

With two laps to go, Reed goes down, over the bars and he’s passed by Windham who takes second at the finish line followed by Reed, Ryan Villopoto and Ryan Dungey completes the top 5.

The 2011 AMA Supercross Series continues with round 16 in Salt Lake City, Utah on Saturday, April 23.
