Ryan Dungey (Suzuki) won the eighth round of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship at Washougal Motocross Park as Ryan Villopoto (Kawasaki) takes over the Class 450 standings.
In the opening round, it was an all-out battle between Dungey and his Kawasaki rival Ryan Villopoto. Villopoto, the hometown boy, was looking for a possible victory but had to deal constantly with the attacks of Dungey, until the reigning champion fell while attempting to pass him for the lead.
As Villopoto rode to the win, Dungey remounted to secure second.
In Moto 2, a holeshot and early lead by Villopoto was eliminated when a red flag was thrown after just over three minutes had elapsed. Following a restart, Dungey grabbed the lead out of the gates and never looked back.
Dungey earned the overall win; his fourth straight at Washougal.
Brett Metcalfe (Suzuki) rounded out the overall podium, with his best finish of the season in third (4-3).
Villopoto currently leads Dungey in the championship by only a point as Reed fell to third, nine points out.
