2014 Polaris Sportsman Touring 570 Preview

11-11-2013

by Guillaume Rivard , moto123.com

Polaris offers a number of Touring models for ATV riders who want to bring a passenger along. One of them is based on the all-new 2014 Polaris Sportsman 570, which we recently previewed here on Moto123.com.

Since two-up riding increases the load on the engine, it's great to have a new liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, 567 cc, 4-valve, DOHC, single-cylinder engine that produces 44 horsepower (22% more than the previous model), and benefits from a new alternator with 44% more watts.

While both models use an automatic transmission with a shaft final drive, the 2014 Polaris Sportsman Touring 570 gains an engine braking system. True on-demand AWD automatically engages all four wheels when you need more forward traction and reverts back to 2WD when you don’t.

Meanwhile, an independent rear suspension combines with revised ergonomics for superior comfort. The front of the seat and side panels of the 2014 Polaris Sportsman Touring 570 were narrowed at the thigh by 3.25”. Coupled with wider and longer side-boards, the new layout is more comfortable and makes it easier to mount and dismount the ATV, the company says.

What's more, the all-new, one-piece seat design and backrest are fully padded and contoured for full support, with a slightly raised position so the passenger can better see down the trail.

By the way, the 2014 Polaris Sportsman Touring 570 is 3” longer overall, but rides on a 5.5” longer wheelbase than the regular Sportsman 570. Payload capacity is up from 485 lb to 575 lb. At the same time, the Touring weighs just 26 lb more.

Everything else is exactly the same including:
  • 24.6 litres of integrated front storage;
  • Front (41 kg) and rear (82 kg) cargo racks with Lock & Ride technology;
  • Hitch towing rating of 556 kg (1,225 lb);
  • 11” of ground clearance;
  • New 17-litre tank that increases the range by 13%;

The 2014 Polaris Sportsman Touring 570 starts at $8,799, which is $1,400 more expensive than the standard model. Indy Red and Camo are both unavailable, so you'll have to choose between Sage Green and Bright White.
