2014 CF-Moto Snyper 800 EX Preview

11-25-2013

by Guillaume Rivard , Auto123.com

CF-Moto is not just another Chinese supplier; they are a true OEM with a dedicated R&D team that specializes in liquid-cooled engines ranging from 125cc to 800cc, motorcycles and scooters, ATVs and UTVs.

In Canada, CMI takes care of distribution and after-sales services, which include a big warehouse in Quebec and a 5-year warranty program. The brand's motto is to “give you more bang for your buck,” and a prime example of that is the all-new 2014 CF-Moto Snyper 800 EX -- one of three side-by-side vehicles available in the lineup (the lone with sporty aspirations).

While a 594cc engine comes standard (Snyper 600), performance-minded buyers will definitely opt for the new 800cc V-twin. In fact, when the 2014 CF-Moto Snyper 800 EX made its debut back in the spring and participated in the 12 Heures de La Tuque (a side-by-side enduring race in the heart of Quebec backcountry), it earned first and second places in the 850cc and less category.

“The 2014 CF-Moto Snyper 800 EX undoubtedly showed the fans that this vehicle is more than ready for the Canadian trails,” said Francois Hamel, Vice President, Sales and Marketing for CF-Moto Canada, who added that the Snyper's performance will meet the expectations of the most demanding customers in terms of power and agility.

The water-cooled, fuel-injected, four-stroke engine of the 2014 CF-Moto Snyper 800 EX generates 63 hp at 6,700 rpm and 53 lb-ft of torque at 6,000 rpm through a continuously variable CV-TECH transmission. Riders can shift from 2WD to 4WD on the fly.

The 2014 CF-Moto Snyper 800 EX trumps its closest competitors in terms of ground clearance and suspension travel (both over 11”) courtesy of ELKA shock absorbers and aggressive tires on 14” aluminum wheels. It also benefits from hydraulic disc brakes.

An LCD dashboard, a 3,500-lb capacity winch, net-type side doors, four-point seat belts, and adjustable steering are all standard fare. Options include a rigid roof, rigid side doors, black bumpers, and a Lexan windshield.

Wrap it all up in a brand new sporty design, and you get the 2014 CF-Moto Snyper 800 EX, a compelling new alternative when it comes to buying a sport side-by-side vehicle -- even more so when factoring in the competitive retail price of $13,500. Machines like the Can-Am Commander 800R, Kawasaki Teryx, and Polaris RZR 800 probably never expected to deal with a serious threat from China.
