2013 Yamaha SuperJet Preview

8-27-2012

by Michel Deslauriers , moto123.com

Stand-up watercrafts have become a very rare breed these days. Not everyone can purchase a SuperJet because of recent emissions regulations that pretty much ban two-stroke engines. To obtain one, you must flash a racing license, and the craft can only be operated for racing purposes.

2013 Yamaha SuperJet

For 2013, however, Yamaha is back with the SuperJet, destined for freestyle, closed-course racing or freeriding.

The SuperJet is powered by a two-stroke, 701-cc twin-cylinder Yamaha engine with a 144-mm pump. It can hold up to 4.8 U.S. gallons, or 18.2 litres, of regular-grade fuel on board.

The spring-assisted handle pole provides better control for the rider, while the foot tray is covered in what Yamaha calls Hydro-Turf, a slip-resistant rubber mat overcoating.

Only one colour is available this year, and that’s black with orange striping. Competing against the Kawasaki Jet Ski 800 SX-R, the 2013 Yamaha SuperJet will be priced at $8,199 U.S., while Canadian availability and pricing have not yet been disclosed.
