2013 marks the 10th anniversary of Yamaha’s range of 4-stroke snowmobiles. When the RX-1 was launched, the industry’s first 4-stroke sled, many sceptics said it would never hold a candle to the 2-stroke machines given its heavy engine. Yamaha was quick to prove them wrong thanks to the outstanding performance and efficiency of the mills derived from its sport motorcycles.

For tomorrow’s champions
Aspiring young champions will want to get their mitts on the all-new 2013 SRX 120. Developed with Arctic Cat, who provided the frame (and Yamaha the engine), the SRX 120 is looking to attract young families and, by the same token, revive a legendary name associated with Yamaha’s famous high-performance snowmobiles of the 90s.

A deep snow hybrid
In response to the requests of hybrid snowmobile enthusiasts, Yamaha is serving up the new deep-lug Nytro XTX 1.75 that loves to play in the powder. Based on the Nytro XTX, the new XTX 1.75 uses tipped up rails that allow the machine to corner with the nimbleness of a 121” skid and glide over bumps with the smoothness of a 136” skid. What’s more, the XTX 1.75 boasts new dual-keel “Tuner” skis that ensure greater stability and control both on the trail and in the deep stuff.

More boost for your buck
Note that Yamaha still offers a turbocharged kit designed specifically for the Nytro’s three-cylinder mill. The optional package, sold and installed at Yamaha dealerships, takes the Nytro’s performance to new levels and doesn’t affect the manufacturer’s initial warranty one bit.
