Canada's largest and most visited motorcycle show returns to Palais des Congrès in 2013, and promises to delight the senses of any and all two-wheeler enthusiasts. They'll be able to see and touch every new model on the market, throw a leg over their favourites, and learn about a host of innovations. Riding gear and accessories also occupy a vast portion of the show floor.


While some visitors come to dream about cool destinations and plan their next great ride, others look for new activities or track day programs, for example. Various conferences, interviews and discussions will also take place.

Here are some of the models you don't want to miss at the 2013 Montreal Motorcycle Show:

Aprilia: Proud winner of the 2012 World Superbike Championship, Aprilia returns with a new version of the famous RSV4 Factory APRC for 2013. It features three-mode ABS to improve safety and performance both on the road and the track.

BMW: After shocking the world in 2009 with its S1000RR superbike, BMW strikes back in 2013 with a lighter, high-performance HP4 package that uses a plethora of advanced electronics. Meanwhile, the F800GT, F700GS, and F800GS are all improved. Of course, there's the all-new R1200GS with a liquid-cooled boxer engine.

Ducati: A next-generation 821cc Hypermotard replaces the 796 and 1100 models. Putting a stop to internal competition, the Hypermotard takes on the rest of the world with a new Testastretta engine derived from the Streetfighter. Also, look for the 848 EVO Corse with traction control, the revised Hyperstrada (derived from the new Hypermotard), and the Diavel Strada power cruiser complete with a number of touring accessories.

Harley-Davidson: Celebrating its 110th anniversary in style, Harley-Davidson serves up an improved Dyna Street Bob, plus a new Softail model called Breakout.

Honda: The racier-looking CBR600RR is definitely worth checking out, not to mention the CRF450R, CBR500R, CB500F, CB500X, CB1100A, as well as the newest members of the lineup, the CTX700N and CTX700T.

Husqvarna: Recently purchased by Pierer Industrie AG, Husqvarna will strive to make its presence felt on the road with the new TR 650 Strada, a lightweight street bike motivated by a fuel-injected single-cylinder that produces 58 horsepower.

Kawasaki: The Japanese manufacturer continues to push the envelope, this time with a ZX-6R 636 that uses a torquier powerplant, along with various electronic aids borrowed from the ZX-10R. Let's not forget the new Ninja 300 powered by a fuel-injected, parallel twin-cylinder.

KTM: Here's a stand that keeps getting larger and more desirable. Behold the all-new and highly anticipated 1190 Adventure.

Moto Guzzi: For 2013, the Italian brand launches one of the most iconic models in recent years: the California 1400. A true descendent of V7 motorcycles, this newcomer completely reinvents itself and pulls off a striking mix of American and Italian styling.

MV Agusta: The mighty F3 was stripped of its racing suit, giving birth to the sleek Brutale 675, a pure naked bike showcasing all the expertise of the MV Agusta.

Suzuki: Witness the new Boulevard C1500T, Hayabusa, and V-Strom 1000.

Triumph: Three new models will excite British bike enthusiasts over at Triumph, including the Street Triple, Daytona 675, and Trophy 1200 SE.

Victory: The most colourful stand at the 2013 Montreal Motorcyle Show features the new Boardwalk, a retro-styled premium cruiser with 16” laced wheels, whitewall tires, and ultra-wide “beach bars” for timeless appeal.

Yamaha: It may not look like it at first glance, but the 2013 Yamaha FJR1300 has been significantly upgraded. A redesigned instrument panel, a more aerodynamic fairing, cruise control, revised seating, and R1-derived traction control are all part of the mix. The new V-Star 1300 Deluxe will draw crowds, too.

On Friday, February 22nd, the 2013 Montreal Motorcycle Show hosts “SHE RIDES NIGHT,” an industry celebration of women who love to ride or are considering taking up this wonderful sport. Ladies will get half-price admission after 5 p.m.!

A place for kids, too
In collaboration with Yamaha Motor Canada and Canadian Motorcycle Training Services, the 2013 Montreal Motorcycle Show will present the Yamaha Riding Academy, which offers a free opportunity for kids aged 6-12 to take a ride on the latest Yamaha TT-R off-road motorcycle. Wearing protective gear, they will be supervised by certified instructors during their 15-minute riding session.
