2012 Honda CBR1000RR Preview

10-14-2011

by Pascal Bastien , moto123.com

No riding aids, but…
Nope, no V4 or V5 here! For the latest CBR1000RR, Honda called on the services, as in the past, of an inline-4 synonymous with gobs of high-end power. The engineers chose to concentrate on responsiveness and precision at smaller throttle openings, to ensure smooth and progressive corner exits.

Honda says the new CBR’s improved handling and especially more progressive inline-4 are so significant that it decided not to jump on the electronic bandwagon like its rivals, in terms of multi-sensor traction control, for instance.

The decision is rather surprising, but it does fit with Honda’s philosophy of user-friendliness, agility and total rider control. Note that the optional C-ABS is still available, an advantage for the road that adds an extra 10 kilos.

GP-worthy dash
The CBR1000RR inherits an all-new, 100% digital dash that, compared to the outgoing model, features a gear position indicator, a maximum rpm LED indicator and a 4-mode, linear rpm counter.

Availability and pricing is still unknown. In the meantime, feast your eyes on pictures of the new crotch rocket and stay tuned to moto123.com for the latest news on Honda’s new superbike.
